POTTER TARN WALK (& OPTIONAL DIP)
Lake District

by Adventure Solos

OVERVIEW

Day Hikes by Adventure Solos are a great way to get to know us if you're interested in our solo-friendly adventures. We set a fairly slow and steady pace for these walks, making them social and inclusive events. All walks are lead by an Adventure Solos host that is also a qualified Mountain Leader and first aider (usually Chris from Adventure Solos).

WHAT'S INCLUDED?
  • A fun, solo-friendly group to adventure and build new friendships with!

  • An Adventure Solos host who will be there throughout the event.

  • Your host will be a professional Mountain Leader and first aid qualified.

  • Adventure Solos' detailed Pre-Adventure Guide, so you know what to bring with you on the day.

  • A WhatsApp group invite so you can chat with other guests before and after the event.

DESCRIPTION

This walk and dip adventure at times follows parts of The Dales Way and The River Kent - with herons common.

We pass two different lakes in the hills; Potter Tarn and the picturesque Gurnal Dubs. The latter is our spot for a break and optional dip in the water.

We stop at a pub at the end for a drink and chat before completing the loop to Staveley.

The walk is not too far or steep; just over 6.1 miles (9.8km) and an ascent of around 200m (so a small/medium hill rather than a mountain to ascend or descend).

There's a train station nearby for anyone travelling by public transport.

The walk takes around 4.5 including a swim stop, plus around an hour in the pub at the end.

We walk at a steady pace for this hike; a low/moderate level of fitness will suffice. If you are entering the water, you should do so slowly, you mustn't stay in for long and you should have additional clothing and snacks to help you warm up afterwards.

Please note that any swimming is subject to conditions being deemed suitable by your Adventure Solos host & leader.

Find out how to join your first hike with us for free when you sign up to the mailing list.

Tickets are available for £39.99 per person here.
