Keep yourself entertained between Adventure Breaks with our book and film recommendations! Here you'll find stories of adventure and survival that we think will entertain and inspire you. Welcome to the Adventure Book and Film Club!

It's 1995 and a crew of London Lads set off on an incredibly low budget, filming as they go, to ride around the world on Suzuki DRZ350 motorbikes. These are the guys that Ewan McGregor and Charlie Boorman's team called for advice for Long Way Down.

Low budget, retro, quirky and fascinating. Austin Vince, one of the team members, is a brand of his own, and his bespoke overalls have become his trademark.

Their route took them from London, through Central Asia, Kazakhstan and Siberia; then from Alaska to Chile and finally from Cape Town through Africa and the Middle East back to London.

The real difficulties in the expedition came in the Zilov Gap, the 400 mile roadless section in Siberia. The team got bogged down here and eventually ended up taking the Trans-Siberian railroad to circumvent the last 100 miles of the Zilov Gap.

If you're looking for high budgets, perfectly edited Hollywood film, this might not be the one for you. If you're looking for a bunch of normal guys that step forward and have an adventure, on very little money, then this might be the inspiration you've been looking for!

The expedition was filmed and was subsequently made into a 2-part TV series. Shown on Discovery Travel and Adventure Channel over 40 times, this has since reached cult status amongst biking and adventure travel fans. If you'd like to watch it, you can find the DVD on the Adventure Spec website here.
