The Role.
We're hiring for a flexible, part-time, Event Organiser role.
I'm looking for someone that is happy to work an average of around 6-8 hours a week (may end up being more or less - to an extent it can be what you make it).
The role and times can be very flexible - I am very open to setting up a communications channel to agree a priority list for the next few days or next few tasks so that the hours can work around you.
The work would be undertaken on a self-employed basis.
Would you be a good fit?
I'm looking for someone with good organisation skills, that is friendly and positive, can communicate well and is happy to get stuck in.

You must be passionate about our values and helping to deliver the Adventure Solos proposition to others. This is what I believe in:
I believe in bringing people together, encouraging people to try new things, trying to stay fit and healthy, having a good balance in life between work and enjoyment, having a less materialistic lifestyle, caring for friends and family, being open to making new connections, and bringing people together, sharing stories and helping others on their journey. I believe we can do all of this through Adventure Solos.
It's an advantage, but not a requirement, if you have been on an Adventure Solos event in the past. Other skills or qualities that are important are:
Having attention to detail.
Being well organised.
Being a good communicator.
Being able to follow instructions.
Having the ability to think on your own two feet
Being willing to sharing your thoughts, views and suggestions.
From a 'technical' perspective, a familiarity with Excel and/or Google Sheets is useful, and it's a bonus if you're familiar with Wix (a website host provider).
The Role.
The role is a remote one - you'd be working from home most of the time. I see the purpose of the role as being twofold:
1). To 'make my life easier' by taking away discrete tasks that you draft and/or execute (see various task examples below); and
2). To help drive Adventure Solos forward by bringing new events to market for our lovely guests.
Of course I am available for you to reach out to (WhatsApp, Zoom, FaceTime, email etc) so that you are supported and understand what's needed and when.
Here's an outline of the types of tasks that you'd likely be involved in.
1). New Event Organisation Tasks
- Inputting/managing a strategy for what events should be next, when and where;
- Surveying guests;
- Assessing new venues for events;
- Potential venue visits, including basic photos of venue for using in Pre-Adventure Guide etc;
- Liaise with venue during booking process;
- Review venue T&Cs for potential liabilities and/or points to convey in Pre-Adventure Guides;
- Drafting new event write-ups for website.
2). Existing Event Organisation Tasks
- Booking venues;
- Create WhatsApp groups for events;
- Fill in 'Instructor Briefing Forms' with details of guests and any reported medical conditions, special requirements etc;
- Reviewing / updating Pre-Adventure Guides;
- Update Bookings Spreadsheet;
- Tracking which events are near full and/or occurring soon;
- Help with meal orders for events (ie Sainsbury deliveries);
- Ensure pub food orders are placed where required (eg Windermere Weekend);
- Organise taxi bookings if required for events;
- Dealing with queries from guests or potential guests;
- Organising photos / other media from events;
- Seeking guest reviews and feedback.
With your help, I would like us to identify repeat tasks for existing events that regularly take up organising time and find ways to automate these, eliminate these and/or make them more efficient.
3). Ad hoc tasks
The role is likely to also include some ad hoc tasks, such as:
- Organising merchandise (eg Adventure Solos pens / t-shirts / uniforms);
- Creating / gathering info for staff webpage - bios of instructors etc.
In the Winter/Autumn, the roles are likely to lean more towards the New Event Organisation tasks, with a little more focus on the Existing Event Organisation in the Spring/Summer.
Reward.
We can pay up to £12.50 p/h, plus a good discount on events.
Be Considered for the Role.
If you would like to register your interest, please send an email to events[at]AdventureSolos.com with a few paragraphs telling me a bit about yourself, any relevant experience, your lifestyle, what you'd be looking for from the role, what you could bring to the role and generally (but succinctly!) your hopes, dreams & aspirations! And mention if you've been on an event with us. Please use the subject line 'Event Organiser Role' and attach a copy of your existing CV (just for background info - no need to re-wite or re-hash your CV, the covering paragraphs are more of interest).
Application Deadline.
The deadline for the role is Sunday 30th July 2023, but the sooner the better as far as we're concerned :)
I look forward to hearing from you.
Chris
